Memories of Key West and Sonoma (Mostly)

February 9, 2002

Crab Cakes on Eggplant Medallions

Lime hollandaise and honey wasabi sauces

(We actually encountered honey wasabi sauce in both Key West and California wine country)

********

Field greens with mango, strawberries and candied almonds

Mango vinaigrette dressing

(From Alice's at La Te Da in Key West)

Signature Dish from Square One:

Chicken, scallops, shrimp and andouille sausage in champagne mustard sauce

(Actually from the Bay Street Hotel in Sodus, which provides the sincerest form of flattery for Michael Stewart's Square One in Key West)

Angel hair pasta

Caribbean spiced pork tenderloin

Blood orange sauce

(Sweet and spicy sauces for pork were popular in both Florida and California last year)

Saffron risotto

Diverse breads with a little help from our friends:

*****

Key Lime Pie

(The local nuances on this recipe in Key West are abundant! We provide two versions.)

Chocolate pagoda dessert after Buddakan Restaurant

(OK, we confess! Buddakan is in Philadelphia, not Key West. But we were there last year and thought this dessert was worthy of inclusion in the menu. Our garnish is less dramatic than the original.)

Chocolate macadamia nut decaffeinated coffee

Kunde Chardonnay Sonoma Valley 1999

Geyser Peak Sauvignon Blanc Sonoma County 2000

Kendall-Jackson Collage (Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot Blend) 2000

Assorted Other Beverages, including fruit punch
